Tiger Hill is located above Darjeeling and Ghoom; it has an elevation near about 2600 meters from the sea level. The place is famous for the mesmerizing sunrise it shows. On a clear sky day, you can visit Tiger Hill and watch the sun rising at the distant east like a fireball pops up its head on the surface of the great ocean of floating white foggy clouds. And on the other side, you can watch the mystic Kanchenjungha revealing itself slowly as the first ray of sun touches its crown. The snow covered beauty unveils as it transforms into a warm rosy golden color. People come from all over the world to be a witness of this heavenly sunrise that the nature of Tiger Hill performs every morning. You can also get a beautiful photographic view if the entire city of Darjeeling and a wide part of the mountain range of Himalayas.

Darjeeling Himalayan Railway or the Toy Train

The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway was declared as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in the year of 1999. It is a narrow gauge train line on which a beautiful little blue train known as ‘Toy Train’ with a whistling steam Engine runs with all its passengers crisscrossing the roads and the markets . It is a very beautiful too see this train passing by as well as being the passenger and seeing the happy valleys of Himalayas passing in front of the eyes.

Batasia Loop is a hanging spiral loop with the toy train tracks rolling around it. It is a circular beautiful garden which gives a full 360-degree vision of the Himalayan Mountain range and has the memorials of Gorkha soldiers too. The most amazing view one can get is when the beautiful toy train makes the double loop here while shooting its steaming whistles.

The Dali Monastery or the Druk Thupten Sangag Choling Monastery is known for its excellent architecture which is an example of ancient engineering skills in and around India.
This Monastery or Gompa is also an interesting place to visit for the seeker of the ancient literature for its possession of the Book of the Dead.

Build in the traditional Japanese style, the Japanese Peace Pagoda is an everlasting proof of the ancient culture and religious view of Buddhism. The serene atmosphere with the ear-strumming hum of the holy enchantment will let your mind float in heavenly pleasure.

The Mall or the Observatory Hills of Darjeeling is a very poplar place and gets more than 500 visitors every day. It gives an amazing view of the Himalayas and specially of Kanchenjunga. The place is always crowded because of its huge popularity.

There are two museums with many rich historical belongings. They are the Bengal Natural History Museum and the Ghoom Railway museum.

Located above Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoo, the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute was set up by the efforts of the Prime Minister, Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru as people got inspired in mountaineering with the success of Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary. It still conducts adventurous mountaineering, trekking, camping and hiking trips every year.

A high altitude wild life park and new home of the Siberian Tiger, Himalayan Black Bear, Barking Deer etc. , Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park or the town Zoo exhibits some rare Himalayan Fauna including the Snow Leopard, Red panda, Tibetan Wolf, Himalayan Pheasants, etc. It is a treat for all wild life enthusiasts. Just nearby is a very successful Snow Leopard Breeding Centre.

The Botanical garden of Darjeeling has an exclusive collection of flowers, orchids, and other rare flora.
